 Dr. Margit Noll, MBA

Keynote:
Positive energy districts in the context of climate-neutral cities

Margit Noll is Chair of the Management Board of the Joint Programming Initiative Urban Europe, an intergovernmental research and innovation programme on sustainable urban development. She is responsible for the strategic development and operational implementation of this programme, including the implementation of joint calls, policy coordination, international cooperation or stakeholder involvement. Furthermore, she is coordinating the preparation of the European partnership Driving Urban Transitions.

Prof. Pauline Deutz

Keynote:
Circular Economy: guide for sustainability, or a distraction?

Pauline Deutz is Professor of the Department of Geography, Geology and Environment at the University of Hull, UK. Following on from a multi-disciplinary training, with degrees in Geography and Geology, Pauline’s research takes an interdisciplinary social science approach to the co-ordination of environmental issues with other social-economic priorities. Examples include: incorporation of industrial ecology/circular economy principles into economic development & resource management; integration of eco-design in product design; building the capacity for sustainability in waste management.  Currently she is coordinating the EU Marie Skłodowska Curie Innovative Training Network ‘Cresting: Circular Economy: sustainability implications and guiding progress’.  She was the co-PI of ‘Evolving a Circular Plastics Economy’ institutional award to the University of Hull funded by the UK Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council. Pauline is currently the Immediate Past President of the International Sustainable Development Research Society, having been President for 2019-2020.

Prof. Dr. Günther Getzinger

Keynote:
Roadmap Climate Neutral Graz University of Technology by  2030

Since 2018 Günter Getzinger is head of the Science, Technology and Society Unit, Graz University of Technology.

Lectures on philosophy and ethics of technology, sustainable technology design and innovation, technology assessment and science, technology and research policy at Graz University of Technology, at University of Graz, and at Alpen-Adria-Universität Klagenfurt.

Günter Getzinger was a Member of the Styrian Parliament from 1991 to 2000 and spokesperson for science, culture and environmental affairs for the Social Democratic Party as well as  member of the City Council of Graz from 2003 to 2008.

Study and research stays at Darmstadt University of Technology, Frankfurt University, Karlsruhe University, Fraunhofer Institute for Systems and Innovation Research (ISI) in Karlsruhe, and Helsinki Collegium for Advanced Studies.
